That's over 10 times more than i would pay for one. Did they come factory on the first gen chargers? I believe 2nd gen didn't have them.. as I had several 2nd gen chargers and they didn't have them . But I did put one on my 69, but it came from a c-body. like a Newport or New Yorker.
Do a pressure test. As in post #7 said.
I had a pin hole in a heater hose that only leaked under pressure and it was squirting over the engine onto everything including the firewall.
It shouldn't be too difficult. There are two dimples on the firewall to locate where to drill for the small strap that has two studs that comes through the engine side of the firewall which the bracket that you are referring to, bolts onto. Then I believe one more bolt by the brake pedal assembly.
I used to have a 70 r/t se charger that I picked up back in the day for $800. It had a fender tag but no build sheet. So I knew it was a real r/t se... and it had a go wing when I got it but I was pretty sure it didn't come with it new in 70. Plus I put cruise control and a woodgrain steering...
Like Mopar jack said. Camshaft could be bent. I've been to a machine shop where the machinist had to unbend a camshaft. He was hitting it pretty hard to true it up.
