Hello,

I wanted to get an opinion on whether or not the knurled portion where the steering column splines are is normal, or if I damaged things.

See the end of the right portion of the green arrow in my attachment. There is a slightly elevated triangular piece. Is that normal? I believe that's what is preventing me from getting the wheel to slide down far enough.

My fear is that I damaged things the last time I mounted the wheel.

I am happy to receive any feedback.

Edward

They do have a locator notch from the factory for placement of the factory steering wheels.
That is to align the wheel to the shaft for a straight ahead position as long as no one has changed anything from the steering box to steering shaft position.
Check the wheel and see if you need to de-burr the wheel and shaft. Could be buggered up from some one previous.
Small file should do the trick.
