Street Hemi Orange

Here's an extra 5.7 Hemi exhaust manifold I had laying around, that I decide to use as a proof of concept/test piece.
I was checking for overall appearance, and to see if there were any obvious negative chemical reactions and so on.

The "basecoat" is rattle can VHT street hemi orange, and Mopar Performance Turquoise.
The clear is the same budget friendly FC720 as on the engine pic above.
Both were very thoroughly dried and cured, and scuffed lightly with scotchbrite.

The clear gives a pretty satisfying increase in gloss.
At some point I'll try some gasoline/carb cleaner/brake cleaner and so on, to see if it holds up.
may try to do my next complete engine with this concoction.......

Mopar used four different oranges on engines and aircleaners. Race hemi orange and two different street hemi oranges. And a "fram" orange for the aircleaners.
Which are you trying to match? (The later street hemi orange is what was used on 340,383, and 440s)
I recently used Omaha Orange from Mazzolini, (for race hemi) and was pleased with color and coverage.
@33 IMP…do you by chance have a product name/part number for a “Fram orange”? I want to respray my air cleaner cover.

Thanks!! Bob

Sorry, I don't. But I do have a pretty good original lid that I'm gonna try to get a paint shop to match with their color gun.
Does the lid you have match a new Fram filter? If it does you could get a match to the filter. (My good lid is off an original A12, and it is NOT the same color as the engine).

I just used VHT on mine. It’s a little more orange than the street hemi orange i used back in the day but understand what I’m dealing with over here: non original engine and I didn’t want to paint it turquois so I’m not going for the OE clone look

Pretty sure these valve covers were done with the mopar performance paint 20 years ago. Close enough for the girls we date

I have HP Exhaust Manifolds with stock 1970 Valve Covers. I used Chrysler Race Hemi Orange to paint the valve covers. I did not use primer. Clearance on the right side from HP exhaust manifold 2806900 to the valve cover is tight. After 30 miles of driving, I had burnt orange. Looks like @Pool Fixer has the same manifold, but used Mopar Performance paint 20 years ago on the valve covers. Does VHT SP120 stay orange long term in this high heat proximity to an HP Exhaust Manifold? Is there something better? I have already tried Duplicolor Hemi Orange. It flakes badly. Thanks. I really don't want to keep painting these valve covers.

@CudaChick1968, does superb powder coat. Much more durable and heat resistant than paint.
And the Mopar brand race hemi I used on my maxwedge was garbage, fifteen years ago, too.
(And your 1970 should be street hemi orange . There's a bunch of alternatives to the Mopar paint, but I don't know how they stand up to the heat.)

8774PAINT1.com engine orange and air cleaner orange for the lid (not shown).

I love eastwood. I painted the engine in the roadrunner with it and it still looks great 6 years later. Did my hemi with it as well. I shot both with a gun.

I concur, I also used Eastwood ceramic Chrysler Hemi Orange out of the gun, and I am extremely pleased all the way around. I am not by any stretch an aficionado like most on here, so I cannot speak to if it is an exact match for OE, but it is beautiful, was easy to apply and covered like a dream.

Duplicolor Hemi Orange with clear coat has always worked well for me.
