Consider the alternative, we can agree I believe, ignorance is bliss.
So, I will take that as a compliment.
Besides, somebody needs to do it,
or at the least I need to review the flight of Icarus?
You are doing everything you can do, and more than most would. I would likely do the same. You will be fine, IMO.
Sorry about not installing the other two.
I'll head to the sidelines on this thread, as I am starting to only repeat myself.
That is the point. They only mostly test "good" blocks, the ones that are not able to be tested for whatever reason I suspect tell a story, and we don't know what that story exactly is and our assumptions therefore need a grain of salt.
Or well designed, and the goal of testing, undermined here again, by only testing a sample of surviving blocks.
Again, I am not opposed to testing one bit, but I feel strongly assumptions/conclusions in this matter should be taken with at the least a grain of salt.
Only item I have to question in the above in-depth informative article, even though they mention the testing of between 20 and 50 blocks being an adequate size test sample, it was mainly done on I suspect mostly rebuildable "survivor" blocks 50? years old, meaning the discarded/failed blocks...
I am a big believer in Sonic testing, however unless doing yourself, and even then you are likely at the most only measuring say 10% of the bore on each cyl. Is it better than nothing, yes of course. Will it show a bad/weak/thin spot, but only if you are measuring that spot.
High end testing...
A thorough sonic test is the most definitive answer on an individual basis IMO.
That being said, at this point, I would have no qualms proceeding in your application/situation.

Then you know how I feel about watching the constant Alcohol promoting adds, that kills and harms I suspect an order of magnitude more than the statistics you have shared above.
But freedom means people have choices, whether I agree or not.

Must be a Florida thing?:)

I agree with your first comment.
I think the concern is the opposite of your second claim.
My personal experience with both types, I have never in many decades noticed a container of any of regular oils leaving a sealed never opened container, but I have in the past decade seen dozens of...
Stumbled on a tech video today, and it mentions the seldom discussed topic I raised about Synthetic oils evaporating, 10:10.
I will try to find a link to it.
Basically, it refers to a new GM standard that requires less than 13% evaporation of a synthetic oil, under what exact conditions i do...
It is agreed universally I believe, that for a damper to do its task properly, it must so tight fitting, it must become part of the crank harmonically and vibrate/flex as one uniform piece. I think the corrosion concern aspect mostly applies to street driven cars or anything driven in the rain, etc.
I have been the production side of the entertainment business many decades always as decision maker, and when a dispute arises on a procedure, and I hear a person claim, "well I have been a Stagehand for 43 years", I respond "I'm sorry" with a smile.
True story.
But to your comment, I have...
