It should have torque boxes on the rear spring front mounts and flat reinforcement plates on the rear where the shackle mounts are located. Also the pad where the pinion snubber contacts should be reinforced. Here are pictures of these on my ratty unrestored J code '68 GTX.
This is a Griffin 26" 2 row. Drop in, used factory shroud, looks close to stock and works great. My 472 hemi runs at 190 degrees even when it's 95 degrees outside.
I had the same dilemma with my GTX, it's a real hemi car but would take more $ to restore than what it would be worth done. If the Charger is in decent shape and a reasonable price, I would make it roadworthy put your hemi in it and drive the snot out of it. There's a few hemi Cuda clones...
