    My 1970 Coronet 383 Troubles

Yes, it’s a factory E61 383 car that was sold new in California. The body isn’t perfect but the interior is near perfect. We just need to get the engine assembled and back in the car. And yes, that’s a Charger rear seat center I’m using as an arm rest.

    My 1970 Coronet 383 Troubles

Right. I should have snapped a pic of the other side because it looked just as sloppy. Again, who knows what got into the pan, but it didn't do the engine any favors!

    My 1970 Coronet 383 Troubles

Found a pic of the rear main cap. The slop you see on it was also stuck in the oil pickup. I have no clue how it wormed its way in, but it did. Or, maybe something inside worked its way out. Who knows...

    My 1970 Coronet 383 Troubles

Many years ago we ran around in a 70 Coronet RT and terrorized many a neighborhood with our antics. Fast forward to a few years ago and a 70 Coronet wagon popped up for sale not too far from me. It wasn't expensive and seemed to run and drive well so I bought it. Lots of body and interior...

    1970 Coronet Pictures...deluxe,4dr,440,500,wagon,rag or R/T!

My work in progress 383 equipped wagon. The fender is a replacement - the original was badly damaged thanks to a PO running it across a garage door opening.

    70 Coronet Winter Odd Jobs

Very nice work...especially given the distance between you and spare parts! My 70 Coronet 383 car is a March build and uses the same compressor to condenser hose.

What do you guys hate about this 1970 Coronet R/T for sale?

Any time I see lots of individual wires seemingly running nowhere, I get nervous. Just what did Bubba do to get the car to run? And, just how long until something shorts and starts a fire. For the asking price, the car should be a whole lot tidier.

Jobs that you FAILED at before finding your way in life....

We lived a half block from where my father worked. In between was a Sohio gas station where, at 16, I got my first real job - after caddying at the local country club for a few years in the summer - as a "Petroleum Installation Engineer"...I pumped gas. Soon, I learned to do light mechanical...

    Local machine shops

Got on the wait list at a local shop in June. Dropped the car off just before Thanksgiving. We met last week to walk thru the list of to-do's. I should have it back by early May.

Who has MOVED from their home state ? How difficult was it for you?

I'm in northeast Ohio, having moved here from Pennsylvania as a kid when my dad took a new job just outside of Cleveland. I've gone from a one bed apartment to an 1847 built four bed home with lots of character and lots of repair bills. I read in earlier posts of sulfur water and this house had...

    2023/24 JEEP WRANGLER

JEEP = Just Empty Every Pocket. Been there, done that. But I still own one and love it. Every June, several thousand folks gather in Butler, PA where the first Jeeps were built in 1941. The local group owns a large tract of land where trails have been cut and next to that is held a large show...

    We bought another Grand Am.

I bought an ultra low mile 75 many years ago that burned a quart of oil every hundred miles. An old time mechanic told me that the rings weren't seated properly and that he had a fix - a can of Bon Ami scouring powder. We started the engine and ran it up to around 1500 rpms and he slowly poured...

    70 383 Rebuilder Wanted

Well dang, it seems videos cannot be posted here. I get it, space restraints. Anyway, if you're a FB user, the video is posted on the 1970 Dodge Coronet Club page under my name - Jim Lape.

    70 383 Rebuilder Wanted

I posted this video on FB of the engine running and the noise it's making. To answer a few questions - I checked the flexplate and it's not cracked or loose, the fuel pump is new and the noise increases with engine rpms. Give it a listen and feel free to comment.

    70 383 Rebuilder Wanted

Thanks gang...I hear you...I need to get the engine out of the car. I have a cherry picker and a fairly full compliment of tools so I will look into what it'll take to remove the engine. My expertise is with six cylinder Continental Red Seal engines in older Kaisers and removing them seems much...
