Yep! I have one in print but we let a mechanic borrow it years ago (late 1990’s) to do work on our Charger and it’s now falling apart. I’ll eventually get a new one, but in the meantime I’ll use the free versions online. I appreciate the heads up though!
I appreciate the advice (as it is sound advice), but I'm trying to save money and (most importantly) trying to learn how to do these things right so I don't have to rely on others (or pay them when I don't have it) so my old car don't sit any more. Once I have the money I'll get my car restored...
Could the electric choke be wired to the starter relay? Total new comer here to wiring. If not, I can try running it to the fuse bock or the other places mentioned, but it seems from what I gathered it is best to be wired to an ignition source so the choke is not on all the time (if I remember...
How’s this? I put the washer in the other side, and I turned the bracket around so there’s tension on the front spring and then I reversed the other spring.
Thank you! It does misfire at the exhaust, one can hear and feel it. I just put new plugs in it because we added a brand new carburetor. The plug wires, coil, carburetor, plugs, alternator, fuel lines, fuel filter, voltage regulator on the firewall, ballast resistor as well as a cap and rotor...
Thanks for the help! I'll check on it this evening! I'm a reader for sure, so I definitely need to read up and start building a library! I adjusted the idle mixture screws (one at a time) with the vacuum gauge hooked on the manifold vacuum port on the carburetor. I adjusted the screw labeled...
Thanks a million! I'll get better pictures when I get home from work this evening, and I'll check on that bracket, as you're correct, no tension on the spring so that's why I had to use the old spring! I'll try to fix the linkage per your comments above. I can't thank you enough for your...
Also, I have turned the idle screw, but not the one associated with the choke. Should I back the one associated with the choke idle down? Brand new carburetor, so I only messed with the idle mixture screws and tuned it with a vacuum gauge and I messed with the idle rpm screw but it goes out so...
That’s another issue I’m having. I had it tuned with the vacuum gauge and tried to adjust the timing, etc. and had it idling in Park at 950. I tightened everything down and had it set right, next time I start it, after the electrical choke kicks off now it’s at 2100 rpm after the chrome kicks...
I have an extra spring in there because the other two aren’t strong enough to hold the pedal all the way up. Drove him around the block and it seems my kickdown isn’t adjusted properly and I may need to add a spring to the front of it as well.
So I hooked a vacuum gauge to it again (hope to get a compression test this weekend) while it was idling and up to temperature. It slightly fluctuated this past weekend so I was worried I had a stuck or burnt valve. However, it seems to be holding very steady and have high vacuum now that I’ve...
