if i look at the linkages for a 440 727 three piece, they have a longer rod from the bell crank on the tranny to the lever than the one i have its short, with it hooked up it only takes 1-1/2 in in travel at the carb or so to go from all the way fwd on the tranny lever to all the way back. the carb needs more travel to get full throttle, what will the longer rod at the tranny do... its a stock 4bbl 440 intake with a holley and a 1in spacer, has the holley throttle kit piece on it, the tranny is a 727 pushbutton...dont want to use a cable unless all elese fails...

I would use a one piece rod, then you can adjust accordingly. This is my 62,transmission is cable shift. One piece rod will work with just about any carb combination.
