Hi I just would love to know what adapter would fit?
I found The flaming river FR1505M kit

and one @ mancini racing:
MANCINI - Manual Steering Adapter

They both look quit different in length and style.
For example, does the Flaming river adapter need the flaming river steeringbox or would it just fit on my power steering column and my manual box?

Anyone has some experience?

Use the bottom one.

I used the bottom one on my 63 and I bought it from Mancini. Ron

What good is the Mancini piece if you still have a sloppy factory coupler?

Just use Flaming River FR1505M kit above and eliminate factory coupler. you will have to cut off your existing steering shaft a little to make it fit. take a look at Southernmans photo of the one he posted 8-9-11. thats what it looks like installed. hope this helps. John

I really think that is the way to go. I had a 73 Challenger and went through everything trying to dial in the power steering. Replaced the whole front end and the box and still there was slop from the coupler. What had happened was, since they are impossible to reseal, the car was driven for decades with a popped coupler top. From the heat off the headers, the grease must not have lasted long. By the time I got it, the coupler body was shot, worn from the inside. The advantage to the factory coupler is that it allows for chassis flex from the unibody.

Are pre-66 manual boxes a different spline than the later Bs? Steer & Gear does list new coupler pots but they are for 66 and up. If you were getting a rebuilt box you could ask for the later spline and get a new coupler pot to fit, don't know how that would be though, and I'd hate to go through all that for sloppy steering.

I think the steering shaft splines are all the same. its the pitman arm spline that are differant 73 and newer. also manual steering shaft splines are larger than power steering shaft splines(the part that you bolt your steering column to)on the box. John

Yeah it must just be the way they listed them, I'm finding the same parts on another site listed 62 and up.

i just installed the flamming river piece in my 67.very nice, the trimming of your column and the adadpter are not too bad.column cuts like butter with a cut off wheel, adapter is hardened steel and had to cut it on a chop saw.

You can use a 66 and up pot but the master spline on them is in a differant place and your steering wheel won't be lighned up, unless you have an aftermarket steering wheel. I ran into this problem when i put a 66 steering column in my car. John

Oh, so that's what it is. I would imagine the flaming river piece is designed for the 66-up spline index. I'm getting a remanned box anyway, but I will have to keep that in mind.... Thanks!

Well, the way it is designed, it will work in any year because the upper part of it slides over your steering column shaft then you need to drill a hole all the way through so you can put the pin through it. just allign your steering wheel before you drill. John

I think all mopar manual boxes are aluminum 62 and up,Flaming River boxes are steel.
