I got the A/C installed and now need to put on heater hoses. I have one capped by a rubber cap and clamp on the water pump side and a plug with a raised brass top and a plug with a recessed painted top. The service manual shows the hose that connects the closest to the front of the car is the outlet hose from the firewall to the water pump and the second and more rearward hose is the inlet from the water pump to the firewall.

I am assuming my water pump connection that is capped by a rubber cap and and clamp is the outlet hose from the firewall to the water pump and one of the other two on the water pump are connections for the inlet from the water pump to the firewall. The other must be for a secondary temperature gauge. Does it make any difference which of the available plugs I use for the inlet from the water pump to the firewall and which to a secondary gauge. I have a Dyna Mod part for the electronic ignition attached to the outside of the distributor and do no think I can get a inlet hose nipple, hose and clamp in the brass plug hole, but could get a sending unit for a gauge into it. Does it matter which of these plugged holes I use for the inlet hose verses which I use for the gauge?

The blue indented plug does look more hose nipple size than the brass raised top one does look more sending unit size.

See if these help any. Some pictures from before some detailing I did. My car actually has a mostly complete 68 engine in it so there may be something slightly off in detail.

Yours seem to show the block colored plug still in place. That might be a good thing. Something tells me the blue painted one on my engine has never been out and is never coming out. I had that issue with the plug to replace the fuel pump plunger. I tried to get it out and eventually gave up and went with the old plunger when I replaced the fuel pump. I have read about guys cracking the block trying to remove plugs on old Mercedes that have been in there for 50 years. Mostly using a cheater bar long enough to lift the front end of the car.

Hope I'm not too late. There are three holes on w/p. Forward most hole goes to inboard nipple on htr. core. Most rearward hole goes to outboard hole on core. My middle hole on pump is plugged( from factory)...My sender is screwed in to pump horizontally from the forward-most hole.

This is from factory service manual.

The 67 GTX heater Hose is routered with a bracket on top of the valve cover to the firer wall... 67 bels & sats have a bracket on the fender...

The plug from the factory in the middle hole was not coming out. Ended up drilling and tapping it to install a sender for a water temp gauge so the factory gauge would remain operational as well. I fought too hard to get all my dash gauges to work to disconnect one to feed a more accurate gauge.

"POPS" Excellant pics. I seem to remember your exact same hose holder on mine(w/o a/c). Ordered a new one from Classic and it was half the height(?).Anyway, 67gtx- glad it worked out.jeff

Mine heats differently then yours, how's that happening?
My most rearward 1/2"id hose on the smaller stub nipple on the water pump heats up before the most forward 5/8"id hose on the larger stub nipple on the water pump does.
