He is a Great Pyrenees Mountain Dog. Breed from the Pyrenees Mountains of France that was used to guard the sheep and other livestock from all comers during the nights on the mountain. They will fight bears, wildcats, coyotes and any other predator without regard to their own safety. The males grow to be 110-160 lbs and 36" at the shoulder. Known for a gentle demeanor with small animals such as cats, ducks, chickens and small children. Will fight to the death for their "pack", meaning their owners. A thief only has to hear their deep bark once, or see their giant frame standing upright against a door glass, to have second thoughts of breaking into your home. They are independent thinkers and will only obey your commands when they are sure that their charges are safe. They are beloved by herders because as it becomes dusk the dog will rise from it's bed and go about it's duties without a word needed to be given. Their hearing is so acute that they can literally hear the footfall of a predator over any noise such as your TV, stereo, loud voices or virtually any covering noise. All this while sound asleep on the other end of your home or property. They are the consummate companion and guard. We love our boy. He's a puppy still as he's only 13 months old. We rescued him from an Amish puppy mill.
