I picked up a different set of wheels for my 64 Dodge 330 and will not need these wheels. I believe they are American Racing Magnesium wheels and are the Le Mans style from what pictures I found. They are I believe 15 x 4 and have Mickey Thompson ET 4 ply drag tires included size is 26 x 4.5/15. Wheels have no damage and tires have good tread still left. Center caps are there but are old and the American sticker is coming off. Not sure what they are worth as I have seen different styles go for a lot of money. Any info or interest would appreciated. Look at pics and tell me what you think. Thanks.

Are there any cast in date codes on the back of these wheels?

Only that there were raised numbers on the back. Don't remember whether they were on the spoke or inner rim. I had a set of these on my racecar in the early 70s. If they are truly magnesium the outer lip of the rims are a bitch to keep polished. They would actually grow mold on them if left untouched too long. lol.

I have a set of 15x6 mags from the early 60's and the outer lip is completely different than what's shown here. My wheels have no markings at all, which is correct for the very early wheels. I believe they only started marking the back when they came out with the aluminum wheels.

Mine were 15X4 Americans and I picked them up used around 1970. They were definately magnesium and were dated. Who knows..........

Dave I think the mold growing on your wheels had something to do with living in Montara!

There is a chrome pickling process that is done fairly regularly and it will seal the magnesium and keep them more of a bronze color as opposed to grey-black. Can't remember the exact name but it's something like M13. Guys with original cobra wheels do it all the time to preserve them.

Great set of wheels 68Dart!

Did you come up with a price yet?

Are the tires safe to drive with or show only?

Here is a pic of an early 60's American. Note the different style lip. These don't have any markings on them.

This is a different style wheel. Note the rounded spokes verses the flat spokes in the OP's pictures.
And Jeff, I had those wheels while living in San Mateo. However, everything else I owned had mold growing on it when we lived on the Coast. lol.

The bolt pattern is 5 x 4 1/2 and mind you these wheels with these tires on them weigh in at only 23 lbs. From what I have seen on line if and when you find this style wheel for sale they are priced at about $800.00 ea and some of them I have seen even had damage to them for around $700.00. these wheels have no flaws and I will include tires and I will pay insured shipping in the US for $1,600.00. I am not in a rush to sell these wheels as I do not need the money. If they do not sell I will just put them in storage.

wheels are no longer for sale. I have decided to keep them after all because they are so rare, and if I ever sell the car they would go with it. Thank you all.

I'm a wee bit interested in those wheels...
I'm a "stones throw" away from Hesperia, only 60 miles away a little past Edwards AFB. I'm doing the 63 Polara as a Max Wedge car.

Okay wheels are now for sale as I sold my 64 Dodge 330. I am selling with tires for $1,600.00 and I will pay for insured shipping UPS ground in lower 48 states from Hesperia Calif.IMG-20120708-00506.jpg

that sure is cheappppp I had a seat on a 62 back in 1970.the outside edge should be magnesium.good luck don't let anyone cheap ya out of them...O and I think FENTON made them........Artie

Still available. Don't be afraid to shoot me an offer. They are being sold with the tires unless you want to buy the wheels by themselves. Or you can buy tires by them selves. Either way let me know.
