Hi guys,

I have Charger 1973 and Stant 10571 fuel gas cap. Does somebody know, is this vented or non-vented cap?

I found this on Stant web site: http://ww2.stant.com/modules/partLocator/view_diagram.cfm?id=10571

There is "Regular Locking Fuel Cap" as you see, so it should be non-vented, right?

This is my gas cap.

There is a small hole as you can see, and I can suck in but can't blow out air. Therefore, this should be vented cap or I am wrong?

Thanks in advance.

All that you would have to do was checking the "vehicle use" at the stant site you posted. Problem solved.

Your 73 Charger uses a no-vented tank the cap you asked about fits your Charger why would it not answer the question?

Because non vented cap doesn't have a small hole where I can suck the air through as this Stant cap has.

The cap has a remove slowly contents under pressure label on it and is supposed to work on your Charger. If it is vented now my guess is someone drilled the hole in question. Other wise it should work on the non-vented tank.

The cap is brand new, no one drilled anything, and you can see on first picture that there is spring and valve in the cap. However, I need vented cap because I plugged all vapor lines on fuel tank and removed charcoal canister and fuel tank vent line from canister.

Easy boys.

The cap is vented . It doesn't matter what you put on the chargers .Tank because it vents itself in other areas . So a vented or non vented will work. But to be correct a non vented is what should be on there . But agen doesn't matter .

EXACTLY!!! The 1973 charger's gas tank is already vented. No need for a vented gas cap.

As I told:

The original cap for that application was non-vented, however it did have a pressure/vacuum release valve incorporated into it. It does appear the Stant 10571 is the locking version of the original non-locking cap(or Stant 10807) and should have a vacuum/pressure release valve, I believe that’s what you are seeing.
10806 left, 10807 right;

Wait, how is original cap non vented, but have pressure/vacuum release valve?!?! What is the purpose of that valve?

I will let the FSM explain the function of the cap vacuum/pressure relief valve;

As mentioned, the tank is intended to be vented through the fuel tank vapor separator and charcoal canister. Sounds like you have removed and plugged it all off. The vacuum/pressure relief valve will not act as a substitute fuel tank vent.

Add a vent line up high in your rear wheel well with a filter on it
If you just put a vented cap on it will leak gas with a full tank going up hill or parking
