I'm thinking about doing a custom dash for my 68 Charger. Has anyone done this for a 68-70 Charger? A friend of mine has a '69 'Maro with a custom bent aluminum dash that is pretty sick honestly. I recently found that I have access to a decent fab shop with cutting/bending machines.

There's this one from the F&F7 movie...

That's not quite what I had in mind, but it's close. I'm thinking just the dash, not a console in any way, shape, or form. Something simpler, maybe a little closer to this:

Here's the full Hot Rod article for the F&F7 Charger if you want to take a look-see:

Anyway as most of us are usually trying to find on this site, I'm looking for someone who has done this already. Stories and pics would be appreciated! Let me know, thanks. :hello2:

Here is mine, mainly stock with electric gauges, led blinkers and lights.

Thanks for the reply Benno. It looks like you have the stock dashboard but fitted a sheet metal panel to it to accept the aftermarket gauges? Is that correct? Can't exactly tell from the pic.

Am I to assume then that nobody out there has a custom bent-metal (probably aluminum) dash? Guess I'll PM Benno then...

I like Benno's set up. It looks like it "belongs" in the car. Those other two look horrible. I'm just not a fan of the butchered up interior look. I have seen some very high end cars with custom dashes that looked great, but those are few and far between.

Here's the HAMMER. A 1970 Roadrunner. That's a high end custom dash and interior. It all looks great and was designed to work with the overall design of the car.

THis is typical for a custom dash in a Mopar.

There are literally hundreds of pictures on the internet.

Probably thousands. I'm hoping for someone who has done it in a b-body charger and their story, not just pictures.

As for high end, I guess I'm not a very "high end" kind of person, nor do I have a high end budget. I feel like this hobby used to be for everyone but has morphed to be somewhat more elitist.

I prefer more Mad Max over fit and finish. Just me.

when I redo the car in a few years I will change the dash and be completely out of aluminium, I will keep the 68 charger dash look as I like the simplicity of the design, it will just be better made than the factory one is.
protouringmopar.com or pro-touring.com might have some nice pics for you, they have a mopar page on that forum, with some nice cars
