I have a 69 dodge coronet and I love the look of a dropped down prostreet look ! My plan is to tub narrow ladder bar wheelie bar 10 point roll cage and a 540 to 572 big block . Every time I think about starting on it I have reservations about having my baby cut on !!! I know it boils down to what I want but would love feed back on what the majority of people would do if they had a choice

just say to yourself over and over......"you can't stop the chop"!!!!!!!!..........then go do it!!

Find one hacked up already. Check racingjunk.com

Edit to clarify-you may find an old drag car that has a lot of that done already and you'll just need to make it street legal again. Just make sure it still has a VIN and title to match.

69 coronets are bad ***, how much power are you planning on making? If you want a pro street look,do it.

I like it too, but my wallet can't handle it.

So long as it's not an Authentic R/T.
I would also have reservations about putting a Bee to the blade. If it's a 440 or 500 go for it.

If you think you are going to keep it forever, then fine. But in reality, you won't, and when it comes time to sell you'll find out that it was the equivalent of this......

Anytime you find yourself in that situation just be sure it's what you want then start chopping so there's no turning back. For me there's always a feeling of relief once it's begun and your end goal is set. Happy Hot Rodding!

I never looked back or had any second thoughts on mine.

As long as the modifications you do are done tastefully and the fabrication work is spot on then go for it. The Pro Street look is timeless and at the end of the day will get a lot more attention then a boring restored mid level car. If it were a 100,000 Hemi car of coarse not, but a run of the mill coronet hell yea, I would.

I refer to this as Demi Moore Syndrome. I started using that term in the early 1990s when the movie Ghost came and folks just loved that short hair cut Demi Moore had in that flick. All these gals rushed out to salons to get their hair cut the same way, and quickly discovered what looked great on Moore didn't look so appealing on them.

Fortunately, hair grows back, but major changes to a car don't, so you need to make absolutely certain that whatever changes you do make you feel as warm and fuzzy as your car does now, or else you could end up like the guys who were with these Demi-wannabees to saw their wife's new doo and asked "how long before your hair gets back to normal?"

How about a well done Mini Tub setup. Less invasive and if done correctly would look factory. Rest of the stuff would be bolt on.

Find one that is rusted up. You will be cutting and replacing anyway. JMO

I've seen 68 and 69 Coronets tubbed before. They already have large wheel wells, and tubbing made them look awkward. Plus, when you do that to a car, it's yours. Most people don't own tubbed cars for a reason. They're not practical.

Not sure why they are not practical.I put over 1500 miles a year on my fair weather toy. With a mini tub if the car ever wants to go back to stock tub it not hard. With just a mini tub my street rears are ET street 16.5x31.At the track I run 10.5w.Both sets of rims are 12 inch wide. It's up to you,,,what do you want????

I was refering to tubbing. Not mini tubbing. Also I've heard bad stories about heim joints breaking, and giving a harsh ride. Plus, you better know how to weld, and build a suspension, or have a fat wallet. It's his car to do as he pleases, but he asked for opinions. JMO.

As "Hemi-Itis" shows, it looks G-R-E-A-T
(He is fully Blown, sadly, there is NO-Cure!)

Yeah!
10X as above
2 Schools of thought!
A) Keep is stock-ish, "Day 2 Modifications if you like"
B) IT'S YOUR CAR SO DO WHAT YOU WISH!!!

I think the best course of action is:
Go the Pro-Mod look and if your NOT happy, go back to stock
KEEP YOUR PARTS
A Mini-Tub set-up will work....

Good luck with your decision
