I am installing a Turbo Action Cheetah shifter in my car - New motor, New TF 727 trans, New shifter.

I was looking for guidance on the shifter cable routing before I make a hole in my trans hump.

From the pictures below, would it be best to coil the cable on the passenger side like shown?
With the hole in the hump at the red dot? Or coil on the driver side? (I am assuming the entire coil will be below the floorboard)

I don't have the motor or transmission in the car right now. Is the trans shifter pin close to the red circle (flat spot on the hump).

I also have the whole shifter angled a few degrees toward the driver, felt better to me, have any of you guys done that? I am not worried about how it looks.

I am think I will also need to make sure the cable is out of the way of the headers/exhaust.

The trans I have is a new TCI super street fighter stage 3, the paper work says it allows manual shifting and automatic shifting in "drive - 3rd" We'll see.

I thought it might be easier to do this without the drive train in the car.

Advice, comments, other members pictures appreciated.

Thanks,

John

I routed mine exactly how you have it in the picture. The loop is in inside the car and the cable enters on the right side of the tunnel towards the top. Keeps it away from the headers and exhaust and less bending of the cable.

I have the same trans and shifter in my car and have been running it for 3 years with no issues

Cable is routed exactly as per the instructions from Turbo Action and that is thru a hole in the tunnel ahead of the shifter, down the passenger side, under the tailstock between the pan and the mount, and forward to the lever..

Works smooth as glass....

My super streetfighter has 145 drag runs on it behind a 505 stroker and 1500 miles ....it works just as advertised..u should be happy with it

Hope this helps....

I can't thank you guys enough for the comments and advice, this is a big step for my build, and a considerable investment in parts as you know. I can now feel confident going forward with this install that it will be right.

Sometimes it is difficult for me to go forward with something I have not done before, and I have learned that if I step back and have some patience, ask some good questions I can usually get some great answers like you guys have provided. What I need to watch is when I get in a hurry, don't ask questions and try to rush something, especially with expensive parts a guy really doesn't want to booger up!

Thanks again, this forum rocks!
