Besides removing the linkage arm from steering column down to tranny, and removing the interior column shift lever, is the anything else that needs to be done?
Ok, i thought the shifter had to be on a precise location on the floor in order for the cable to reach the transmission. I did find the cable gets installed from the front of the tranny?
Moving on to my next project…69 Bee, 8 3/4 rear, what believe to be open third member. I picked up another third member (another open) to swap it out since going down the road there’s slight howling. I jacked up rear if car and put jackstands under the axle. Car is still in park. Removed wheels...
Seems? To be ok… test drive hopefully this afternoon…. Is there such thing as a “gap cover” to cover the gap between column housing with shifter and an aftermarket wheel adapter? I have about 1/4” gap and surely dirt/dust will invade
I think i may have found the issue… snap ring behind the turn signal switch was not in the shaft groove…. When i pushed it back in groove it was very sloppy. Hopefully NAPA or parts stores will have new snap ring!
So e everything back together column is in coupler is on steering wheel back on everything bolted up. I get approximately 1/8 to 3/16 play in and out grabbing the steering wheel. Could that be normal? If not, how does that get tightened up? I put a mark on the steering shaft in the engine...
