Wow, I had a car just like that back in the early 70"s and almost the same color! It had a 383 & a 4 speed with 4.10 sure grip out back! The only reason I didn't keep it long was that a lime green 70 Challenger RT stole my heart!
I was thinking that it also could be a combo of what was stated above but also thinking that that it could also be a patch to cover some of an area that might have rusted out. How is the rest of the cars body??

My 73 was altered, (stripped of power steering) for bracket racing before I bought it. There is too much play for my liking & trying to park it, with that big ol' 440, dislocates my shoulders. I will eventually put power steering in it, I actually have 2 pumps & a power steering box & such...
Beautiful! The "ONLY" thing I would change is to get rid of the bumper guards. I have never seen that color interior in one of this model but it looks great! Best of luck with it!

Way back when, I had 70 Challenger 383 4 speed. Somebody "gave" me a used electric fuel pump & told me it would improve performance. I pulled the mechanical pump off and took out the push rod which was somewhat worn on the end, not bad. Well, the car had something like 130,000 miles on it and...
