69 Charger sump removal

Can anybody tell me if it is possible to remove the sump from a 440ci 69 Charger without removing the motor. mine has split and needs to be replaced or welded up

I do believe that is what he is referring too. And i dont think so. It would be easier to yank the motor

The oil pan will come right off if you drop the steering link, if that's what you are referring to.

yes I do mean the oil pan, over here we call them sumps. So you think its possible? what about the oil pick up, does it get in the way? cheers Paul

I know it is possible because I did it several times when trying to stop a rear main seal leak years ago. You might have to put a 1.25" socket on the crank pulley bolt to spin the crank a bit.

Yup, drop the link, have to wrestle with the pick up a bit and turn the crank.

Yes it will but it's a bit of a fight. The oil pickup might limit some mobility and center link removal is a must.
