69 Road Runner

Hey Guys. As I've been searching for a 69 Charger & prices seem so expensive $40-$50K for I just found this and wanted to get your opinions. Anyone ever work with or buy from these guys?

pretty car, few pieces missing the fender tag,ask for bill sheet, driver side cover for your console is missing, should be there to cover the gap you have, nice interior, need correct steering wheel, for that kind of money i would want all those on my car,as long as you got fender tag, bill sheet most cars do not have those, but they have the fender tag, check under side of car thoroughly.looks to be a good car.

Thanks! I've left them a vm this am as well as an email. I'm sure I can find a console cover + steering wheel. Has all of the options I was looking for in my search for a 69 Charger (Bucket Seats, Shifter on floor in a console, Red exterior + Black interior) + the price is definitely more reasonable.

I also noticed there is no hoses for the heater and there is no windshield washer tank.Plus they don't say matching numbers.

I would be leery of the body work and paint. The plate behind the master cylinder is painted, the access plates on the inner fenders are painted, both of those items should be black. Door latches are painted....when I see that it makes me think it probably had a quickie mask off everything and paint it job done on it.

Thanks for the input! When I hear back from them I'm definitely asking to get the Fender Tag, see if it's a matching #'s car...etc...

I'm planning to ask them to sell at $27K as a bargaining chip, see if they would fix the heater connection, windshield washer parts, replace the wiper motor & tighten the headliner. I'd search for a correct steering wheel & console cover & fix myself.

I'd also line up an independent inspection on my own rather than using "their local guy"

is it me or are the seat back too far back? missing several side markers. I'd want to lay eyes on it first.

The heater was disconnected for a reason. Most likely a leaky heater core.

These three pictures tell a lot, and none of it is good. Lipstick on a pig............

have you ever done a headliner, your gonna have to redo this one.its too loose.
what are those headrests out of.
were's the windshield washer bottle.
why are the hood hinges black..
what else is wrong with it.
original motor and trans is the last thing you have to worry about on this beauty.

Paint on the passenger door striker receiver bothers me too. But, could still be a good car for the right price. MUST see in person.

...and NO fender tag on this car....

Thanks RC! Can you go into some detail as I'm new to this.

I don't have enough time to chronicle everything, but, since you asked...................

Top picture: The interior of the door should be black, not red. Strike playe painted.
Middle picture: Painted the VIN with the dash. Also looks like they painted over some leftover masking tape glue.
Bottom picture: Everything in the engine compartment was painted red including cam bolts, inspection covers, aster cylinder reinforcement plate, & wire loom & the heater hose bracket. They couldn't fill in the crappy hood pin holes in the upper rad support. Valve covers are gloss and the rest of the engine is dull. No heater hoses or washer bottle/hoses/squirters.

You can see that the stripes are gloss and what's with the goofy mask job on the leading edge?

Speaking of goofy, what's with that shifter boot?

By looking at the pictures, I would agree someone fixed this car up for a quick flip. Many wrong details that speak to rushed work. That doesn't mean that the bones of this car aren't good, but I would be worried. Rusted areas that are newly painted will look great for 6 months to a year, and then the rust will all come through again. Quite frankly, I am personally leery of buying most freshly painted cars. I would rather buy one painted two years ago. You get a better idea of the craftsmanship of the work. If a car is freshly painted, then the details matter. If a freshly painted car has all the correct details, then they probably did the bodywork with the same level. If they rushed the details, then they probably rushed the bodywork too...

Just my $0.02

Thanks guys for all of your help & walking me back from the cliff. I really want to get a decent and as correct as possible car that looks good but not going to cost me $40-$50K. No Fender Tag = NO SALE.

I totally understand they are a consigner / reseller & can only disclose what they are told by the seller.

I know of at least 30 roadrunners and GTX's in garages in your area.
problem is.
there all gonna fix em up some day.
or they paid to much in 2008 and the market went kaboom,
so they cant make there 100% profit.

Yep, totally understand. What's interesting though is that all the comments about quality issues with this RR & when you look at 69 Chargers you get the same quality issues but @ $40-$50K.... You'd think hitting that price range the car should be 100% restored to factory Spec's and would look like it just rolled off the assembly line....

I agree. Chargers are top of the heap from a cost perspective, so this means any Charger will be more expensive.

Regardless of which B body you end up with, consider this: Often times "bargains" really aren't, and you will pay much more later. Perhaps look at nice #3 cars (i.e. driver cars) that have NOT had recent work. These are likely to have some issues, but their issues will be much easier to see, and you know what you are getting.

Best of luck in your search!
