70 Charger R/T SE Daytona sunroof project is starting soon.

I keep plugging away at what seems like endless front end parts and hardware. All this work will be worth it when I start putting the car together with all new and reconditioned parts!

Started cleaning up the K frame today, the sander took off the heavy grime, surface rust and dirt. It will require some hand sanding and scraping, before cleaning it up and getting in in rusty metal primer, then satin black paint. Other than one dent, the K frame with skid plate is in excellent shape. I always double check the sleeves that the lower control arm spindles go through, that is where K frames usually fail. These are in excellent condition.

Something as simple as a K frame bolt can show the difference between a New England car and a California car!

Now I know that I am supposed to be doing something productive out in the garage, but it's not my fault that absolutely nothing is getting done! A fellow Fbbo member made the mistake of giving me a twelve pack of good beer! It won't be pretty when the cops show up again! I know who my one phone call is going to be to! The last time I called my wife and she hung up, so I ain't doing that twice! Lol! I was a church going lad who was corrupted! Lol

Today the tortion bars and clutch and brake pedals get a coat of black paint. I am hoping to do some more cleaning up on the k frame and get it in rusty metal primer today and paint it tomorrow. I can't find the strut rod bushings, I know that I bought them, but don't know where the hell they are! I did find the brake pads and new hardware, and the wheel bearings and seals. I have new brake rotors for the car too.

The k frame has three coats of semi gloss black paint on it,the first coat took a long time to get paint into all the nooks and crannies, like a Thomas' English muffin! Lol the next coat was a coverage coat, then,I laid down the final wet coat. Most everything for the front end assembly is pretty much done. Next is the engine bay. I have to graft in a section of the firewall to convert the car to a non air conditioned car. I have the firewall section to graft in and then prep the engine bay for paint. If I can get the engine bay painted before it gets too cold, I can assemble the front suspension, I frame engine and transmission into the car. That is my goal but it may be a bit of a lofty goal. It will be a real stretch to try to make it happen before it gets to cold to work in the garage! I ordered $1370.00 worth of parts from Brewers to make this happen but they didn't have the throw out bearing in stock so I am going to try to get one from the parts store. They only had the China made one,and I only want to install the transmission once!

I grabbed a rack of Sam Adam's Cherry Wheat last night and fell off the wagon again, so I didn't get any car work done, but I did bring the painted K frame, torsion bars and strut rods into the garage and put them with the rest of the parts. My order from Brewers is supposed to be delivered tomorrow. I am hoping to get started on the engine bay and firewall graft over the weekend.

Glad you liked them!!

I haven’t had a Sam’s Cherry Wheat in a long time. Great beer! They go down way too easily!!

Seems to be alot of work done in that one room with all the painted parts ?

It is a good place to paint parts,I have to keep it heated so the pipes don't freeze.

After I did the rear brakes on my truck and put on my winter tires, I went back to the exciting task of glass beading more front suspension components! I'm literally having a fuc*in blast! Lol

I've been using 40 grit Red Garnet. Man....THAT really cleans away the crud quickly. I find sandblasting quite fun when it works right.
Good work.

Today,I cleaned and sanded the dirt, grime and surface rust off the back side of the front inner fenders. I primed the bare metal areas with rusty metal primer. While the primer was drying I tried to straighten out the drivers side frame to rocker panel splash shield/gusset at the lower back corner,it looked like they either drove over a rock,or improperly jacked the car up on it. Luckily there is no damage to the framerail or rocker panel and no rot. After the primer dried I put a light even coat of undercoating on the back side of the inner fenderwells.
