Hello,

My 72 SSP is missing the wiper linkage bushings for both sides. Does anyone have a picture of what these bushings look like installed? The bushings I see for sale on Ebay don't look like they can fit correctly, as there is a large flat washer and circlip that goes over the mounting post where the bushing goes. The service manual diagram isn't much help.

Thanks,

Mark

The plastic snap in-linkage bushings started late ’72, prior to that the links had brass bushings, not serviceable, washers and clips. The linkage parts are not interchangeable, early & late. Will need to verify you have the correct parts. Post some pictures of what you have.

I made a deep research about wipers when I was trying to fix my 2 speed system, then when I wanted to upgrade to 3 speeds ( I ended installing a 71 Variable switch ), amd wrotte up a thread about that:

And I found that brass bushing on earliers and plastic bushing on laters difference too.

OK, so I used a bit of ingenuity and used some plastic wiper bushings from a Dorman wiper bushing kit I found at AutoZone. There are three bushings that needed replacing (actually there were no bushings left) so I had to buy two kits as there are only two of them that fit correctly in each kit. I had to very carefully grind the bushings down so that when assembled, there was enough room on the posts to use a circlip to hold everything in place. The bushings actually snap into place so they fit great once they are modified. The whole assembly is much quieter now and the wipers actually are hidden now when parked. Took some pictures, hope this helps someone who needs to replace theirs.

You have a mis-match of parts there, the link hole pictured takes the later snap-in bushings, no clips or washers were used with those originally.
