I am looking for a new front bumper talked to classic they said to call amd they said nobody males one for a 73. Mine is rusted on top could probly weld some metal in and have it rechromed Have seen a few posts about changing to a 72 with some slight bracket mods. My question is would my lites grills bezels etc fit? I have all orginals and they are in perfect shape
Also am going to call tri metal direct to see what they have but closed for the holiday. Kinda cant beat the classic price of 469 and free shipping. Dont know if I could get mine rechromed for that. Thank you for any help.

440 Charger, I had Tri City rechrome my 73 Charger front bumper a couple years ago. It wasn't bent or anything They did a nice job but it cost more than $469 with shipping. There's one listed by Burnout68 for a 74 Charger for $400 I think. I'm not sure if 73 and 74 are the same though. There have been members on here that have used 72 brackets on a 73 to eliminate the reveal molding. Or they have modified the 73 brackets to get rid of the moldings. Unless you can find a real nice used bumper or reproduction it might be best to re plate the one you have.

A 72 bumper would be a direct bolt in. Need to use all your brackets along with the lower reinforcement so your grille brackets bolt up. The only parts that will not transfer over are the rubber filler pieces as the 72 bumper does not have the provision for the side pieces. 72 frame brackets will not work, use the originals and slot the holes so you can bring it in close. If you do this you will need to modify the upper bumper to fender braces as they will be too long. You would also need to buy the emblem that a 72 uses on the front.

73 and 74 bumpers are the same. As T2R9 stated, 72 bumpers will fit just fine after modifying the brackets from a 73 bumper by slotting the holes a little bit. You won't then have to worry about the gap from the fillers which no one is re-popping.

It's all been said . I do have a complete hideaway headlight assy for a 72 I'm selling if your interested in in Melbourne FL I'll have to double-check bumper itself .
I just tossed a pile of reg bumper's not long ago no one wants them ever .

Thank you I am going to run with the 72 bumper and mod whatever is needed. Was checking more if the body lines will do. Going on month 4 of the build and want to drive her .

Thank you that may be a good mod I will be in touch.

I don't see it mentioned that the 71 and 72 bumpers have an emblem in the center where the 73/74 does not.

Without the emblem there is a depression and mounting holes.

The jack slots are also slightly different in a 72 bumper vs a 73/74.

71 has no jack slots.

I dont mind the emblem . So from what I see the 71 through 74 are the same outside dimensions and shape .

Correct. Just small variations year to year but nothing that will affect fit.
