Been several years (6) since buying a battery for any of my cars and those are AC Delco group 27 7 year batteries. One of them is getting weak and need to replace it.....

I like interstate batteries, alwaysnused them. Bought an oreillys brand battery last year? I think it was super start brand? for my 06 SRT ($180ish) didn’t even last a year. Less than 5k miles on it when it died. Now I only use interstate or optima

I've gotten very good results with the Mopar Group 27 from the dealership parts department. I've been getting 12 yrs. out of them. In fact I have two still in service right now that are 12 yrs. old and still going.

Yeah Optima is a great battery ! A little more money and if you want to use a charger you need one that is for that type type battery .

How much do they go for?

optima
got one going for over 11 years worth every penny
Yeah, they are good I know but not really wanting to buy a charger for them.....

The last one I bought (8-3-17) was $102.00. (List price is $142.00)
I like them not only because of the good service i've got from them, but because they are black in color and have the Mopar name on them. Makes them look at least somewhat correct for a Mopar muscle car.

Thought the battery only needed a special charger if battery was severely discharged? Also if you had a lead acid battery hooked to a charger and hooked optima battery in parallel with lead acid battery it would charge.
Don't if above is true but like to know.

I just had to get a new batt for my 94 Caravan the other day, $120 OTD with a GI Joe discount @ O'Reillys. The old Interstate lasted 8 yrs. 9 mon before it said F it! That's the 2nd batt that has lasted me almost 9 years, I really can't complain. Good Luck

The local Dodge Stealership quoted me 184 carry out!

Optima: Red top in the GTO, Yellow top (because the color matches, otherwise would have got Red top) in the Lemon Twist Roadrunner, Blue deep cycle for the travel trailer, Blue deep cycle for the car trailer electronic jack. That's almost $1,000 between the 4 of them and ZERO regrets, they're GREAT! I'm going to get 2 more for my bass boat, one cranking and one blue top for the trolling motor. Wal-Mart better grade starting/charger with AGM setting. AGM setting is a MUST! Also have lithium batteries by Shori in the 2 HD V-6rods, with their own Shori chargers/maintainers.

AGM setting is a MUST w/Optima!

Ouch! That's too much!
FWIW the battery's Part number of the last one I bought is BB027750AA. List:142.00 Net:102.00 and that's right off the sheet (receipt) from my purchase. You may want to run this info. past your "local Stealership" as you put it, and see what they have to say.
I buy certain parts from two local dealerships and know some of the guys there. They give me a reasonable discount on parts.

AGM, absorbent glass mat, require a battery charger for that. Lead acid is totally different.

What are the cca's on that battery.
Never mind 750 cca.
Thats hardly a bb or br battery. One time spin if it doesnt go jump start time.

Your post made me curious so I called the two dealerships I buy Mopar batteries from but the guys I always deal with weren't in so I couldn't get any significant info.
The last two Mopar batteries that I purchased for big block cars were the BB027750AA. I told the guys I was there for a new Group 27 battery. I don't remember exactly what I said but pretty sure I made it clear that they were for my Charger and/or Super Bee at the time.
I will say this, they work fine in my BB cars. They seem to have plenty of cranking power.
These two cars don't get driven on a frequent basis, so when I do drive them I generally prime the center carb so a lot of cranking isn't necessary. But on occasion I don't prime so I've had to crank the engine for quite a while to get the fuel to the carbs. and have noticed no running down of the battery or slowing down of the starter.
Monday I'll make a couple of calls and get the low-down.
But in the mean time feel free to educate me, I'm open minded.

Cranky, was the quote you got from the dealership for a Mopar or aftermarket battery? If Mopar Brand what was the Part number? I'm curious.

I have had pretty good luck with the 'Duracell' brand from Sam's Club. Usually a little less than others with better specs and warranty.
