Any particular brand battery best these days?

I use my die hard battery tender with my optima all winter long, 6 years now no issues.

Ironically, just changed the original battery in our 06 300c. I never got 12 years out of a battery, ever. It was manufactured by Johnson Controls, so bought the replacement made by... Johnson controls.

How much do they go for?

Yeah, they are good I know but not really wanting to buy a charger for them.....
I bought mine for $150 online....was at my door in 3 days from USAutoparts IIRC...
As far as needing a special charger, yes you can buy one or keep your old battery and make a jumper and parallel ( like a diesel) with the the new AGM and charge through the wet cell. No issues so far...

I was a Delco fan too but today they are rebranded and the same as all the others. After a lot of research I went with a Deka for a number of reasons. I have been presently surprised in many ways. It is by far the best performing battery I have ever seen, internal impedance is lower than any battery I have ever seen, very solid construction, it has been under the hood in Arizona heat and I see no indication of the case deforming from the heat.

So sorry but could you explain that to me. I never heard of this.
I have 2 different battery chargers that have "battery type" selector switches. Lead acid "wet cell" is typical, but Optima batteries, which I own 4 of in 4 different applications and they are GREAT, are "AGM" batteries. If you charge them you must use the AGM setting to avoid damaging them and to assure proper charging. AGM batteries, for example, do not build up plate residue that would require a desulfating phase like lead acid "wet cell" PLATE batteries do.

Been several years (6) since buying a battery for any of my cars and those are AC Delco group 27 7 year batteries. One of them is getting weak and need to replace it.....
I bought a reproduction of what would have come in my car except it's updated with AGM technology. A little pricey. If you want the website let me know.

Naw, not looking for anything reproduction....just need to replace the battery in my soon to be X's Durango. Thanks for the info though.

The batteries at Wal-Mart are Johnson manufactured, and the price is right.( the maxx line, not the value line)

I've gotten good service with Wal-Mart EverStart Maxx and Oreilly's Super Start.

I go to Napa and pick put the battery with the most CCA that will fit into the vehicle.
No problems.
I also have retrofitted many of the dual 6v battery systems in my older tractors to a single 12v battery with no problems.so long as I use the largest battery that will fit.

I'm with Wile E. Nothing wrong with a Walmart battery.
I have gotten good results with Walmart and Farm & Fleet (Wisc, Ill, & IA) batteries.
If memory serves me correctly, all batteries are made by one of only 3 or 4 companies, regardless of the name on the front.

NAPA legend for the RR, but the 14 Charger got an Advance Auto AGM.
I believe most replacement batteries are either made by Johnson or Deka wherever you buy them.

There is only a few manufactures that make batterys but they are built to the spec and price the brand requests
Just check spec's and research failure history on brand you choose
