My first thought would be why do you think this is the right cam for you?
Because it fits my budget! Lol
(And a friend put one in his Roadrunner and so far so go?)

Maybe if you tell us your complete drivetrain and what you want out of it we can better help you.

If you have a low compression motor and want it to sound nasty then this may be the cam for you. I don't generally like to see that much of a split in duration but it may work in certain setups.

It is going to idle crap, will want a LOT of idle timing....

Jeez...what dusty crypt was opened to unearth this relic?

With a higher stall converter, thus statement is pointless.

The information is just as relevant today as when it was printed. That is because the info was based on the 440's rod/stroke ratio.......which hasn't changed since that printing.

73 degrees of overlap with a hydraulic tappet. If you don't know how to manage that you won't be happy.

I have this cam kit in a 400 smogger motor. 8/1 CR. I agree with all replies above, need to know more and what your goal is.

This is what I have: stock 1977 400 with 8/1 CR, performer intake, Edelbrock 800cfm carb, Stealth heads, Thumper cam kit, 1 5/8 long tube headers, Progression ignition system, stock converter with stock 727.

I fought this combo for 7 years with the Chrysler electronic ignition system. Ran like crap, would not idle, and had no power, hell I could not even power brake and get the tires to turn over. I changed the carb to a Holley 600cfm no change. This summer after rebuilding the Edelbrock for the 3rd time I asked for some advice on here. My ignition system quit, so I upgraded to the Progression and took Geoff 2 advice and gave the engine lots of timing. I ended up at 42* at idle and my carb problems went away, along with the major unburnt gas smell. I now can get the tires to spin just by stabbing the gas.

I'm now looking at getting a smaller less split duration cam and putting in some higher compression pistons in it. The cam sounds bad ***, but when the rest of the package doesn't work and you can't enjoy it, it gets old real quick. Just my .02
