My headliner needs replaced and I have the old one removed. Not having any luck finding someone in my area that will replace it on site. I have the car in my garage but it does not have the motor yet. I was thinking about replacing it myself and have seen some pics and info on it. Has anyone ever done one of these? Is this something I should try or find someone? Thanks

i did mine and it wasnt too bad since both front and back glass were out. u need some adhesive and a bunch of small clamps and patience.. its not an easy job but doable if u are patient and take ur time.

there's a couple guys on the "70 Charger forum" that have done their own, I tried doing one...gave up and just paid the upholsterer guy the $100 to install it correctly

I've done them before with the windows out...never with the windshield and back window in. One word of advice....do not use a house iron to try to steam the wrinkles out before installing...not even through a towel. It will take the pattern right out of the headliner....believe me...I know. I also know for a fact that putting it in the second time goes a lot quicker. In all, it was still cheaper buying two headliners than paying someone to install it.

Take your time and follow the instructions on the how to thread. It really isn't that bad....especially if the windows and seats are out of the car.

Whereabouts in PA are you?
I installed one in my '69 Charger, & since then have done a few others for friends.
Here a link to a how-to thread:

BTW, $100 bucks is a STEAL. NO ONE in my area would make house calls, either. They also quoted more than double to install it.

thanks for the ref pics and link Bill very good tech and very informative! Do you have any convertible top install posts or experience too? "my other car is a hardtop" :)

i did mine in my RR. it was a bitch, but i took my time. its not perfect but its not a show car either. i think after doing that one i could probably do a better job if i do anymore. for a show quality car i would have no problem paying someone who knows what there doing.

Looking at that dome light, I wish they made a separate switch for that thing and not the roller knob on the dash that also controls the dash lights.
Or, maybe that's just how it works on MY 69 Satty. Someone outta make a mod for that that fits on the dome itself.

You're welcome!
Sorry, no convertible top posts or experience here. Just done a few headliners and vinyl tops on hardtops is all.
