Are we afraid of the next gen Mustang????

Nope.

The weight advantage of the Mustang will be huge with that HP. I am not sure the Hellcat ever outperformed the 662 HP GT 500, except maybe at top end.

Who says Dodge will stop at 707, but they need to work on shedding about 500 pounds.

.....and giving me more headroom so I'd actually consider buying one.

My guess is it will be more affordable as well.

The new challengers are wayyy too thick compared to the old ones. They should lose about 900 lbs, and then they might actually be competitive.

Yep, be very afraid. If you are standing out side a coffee & cars get together watching them try to do a burnout.

Dodge should be afraid for two reasons:

A. Because they're trying to turn the Charger into an Alfa Romeo. Not that the existing, hybrid S-class/C-class suspension is anything to write home about.
B. Because a drag race with any modern Ford product means the dragstrip will be littered with lots of random Mustang parts after the first pass.

I dont know...I see a lot of mustangs that dont stay going in a straight when under the power they already have....I think the challengers are that heavy so they have some ballast...the srt I drove around for a week had a great ride to it and when under full load it was easy to keep in between the lines.....I will say tho..around 128 it had a ever so slight vibe in the front end , the owner said he found it to be a clip/ring that was in the rotor assembly but he never gave me the keys again.

bzzzzz, wrong.

I need seat to headliner room.

I can't believe the number of times I have to explain that to rental car employees.

Their standard answer after I spend a good minute describing in detail how I need to test actual cars to see if I fit is....."you'll fit, just put the seat all the way down".

Huh, you'd think I might have thought of trying that.

Then I have to drag them outside and prove I don't fit in about 80% of their inventory.

They are always shocked.

Nope, because as we've seen, most of the population can only drive them into other cars and trees and ****!

Consider the source.

OK, back to the topic; I'm confused, do you need more headroom in a Mustang or a Challenger? I'm 6'-0" & there is plenty of room in my Challenger.

I fit just fine in an 05 stang. not sure on the two next revisions.

In any new Charger or Challenger, my hair is in the headliner. VERY annoying.

I'm 6'3" with a long spine.

Classic Mopars (66-74 at least) always had about an inch more headroom than ford or gm mid size cars, and another 1/2 inch if I took out the seat track spacers. That was a BIG plus for me.

Last time we rented a car to drive to NC, it took an hour and a half to sit in everything, after finally convincing the counter guy of the issue.

Camry- nope
Escape- nope
Elantra- nope
etc, etc

Finally a fusion worked.

On pickup of course they didn't have a fusion.

They pointed to a regal with a sunroof.

Uh, oh.

Same guy at the counter and I swear he said "you'll be fine, just put the seat all the way down" again.

I was ready to swing, after all we'd gone through.

We got upgraded to a Town and Country.

If I'm gonna drive 9 hours, I damn sure don't want to be slouching the entire time.

Sometimes my eyes are above the level of the top of the windshield!

Just for S&G, we test drove a bmw z3 a few years ago.

Dang near just like that pic.

We took turns driving it, and my wife was laughing histerically while I was coming back to the lot.

When she was finally able to speak, she said my head was 3 inches above the windshield...
...and something about a gorilla and a tricycle.
