Why is it so hard to find one? I did find 2 for dirt cheap, 1 was a push button with bolt on yoke and the other was standard style with, yep you guess it, a bolt on yoke. Both were long tailshafts and for big blocks.

I'm just not having good luck and it seems my swap for a 440 and auto for my truck is off to a rocky start!

Exactly what are you looking for? Early BB cable shift or later model lever operated?

Definitely no cable shift tranny's! I just need a decent trans that I can put in place of the small block 727 that is in the truck now. I have a lot of short tail shaft's, but I need a long style so I don't have to mess with the driveline. People around here want 3-400 bucks for them and they need to be rebuilt, and since I don't know anything about them, I have to take in and have somebody else do it. I'm not in a hurry for a trans, but wouldn't mind having it here, that way I can fab/mock up some motor mounts.

I would just pick up the BB with the yoke, and swap the guts/tailshaft from your small block unit, Unless you intend to sell the small block transmission. The only difference is the case/bellhousing.

I suppose I could pull out my books and get a quick hard lesson in how to rebuild a trans.

I found another trans for 250, so we will see if I can get that, if not, I'll just need to get one from a trans shop.
