Baking Soda Spray?

Unusual question: Anyone hear of a baking soda spray application for cleaning aluminum parts? This is to guard against pitting while accomplishing a good cleaning. I've not heard of anything like this; the hassle involved is cleaning btw the fins on a bike motor. Thanks!

Wife uses baking Soda and boiling water to clean our pots and pans all the time. Bike cylinder heads? I’d use something more aggressive.

The only thing that comes to mind is soda blasting, where baking soda is used instead of sand or other abrasives. It's much gentler than sand blasting. Plus, it dissolves with water so it's easy to make sure that no residue is left behind.

Spraying baking soda using compressed air seems like a real long shot so had wondered if anyone had tried this. I'd think the stuff would cake up at the slightest inkling of humidity unless it's in a slurry form using a pressure washer and if not within a blast cabinet what a friggin mess...

we used to rub baking soda on cragar rims in the 80's after they were polished last step, turned the soda to black and made took the blue look out of the shine and made it a whiter shine. more brilliant.
