battery in trunk nhra rules can you put elsewhere. looking at back seat location goods, bads or better yet what i'm i thinking.

What class are you running? I have a rule book...I'll look it up for you.

66 383, really building it for the street just want to not break rules if i take it out for friday night drags or test n tune stuff.

I believe it has to be separated by a steel/aluminum firewall from the drivers compartment.Even though rarely checked has to be a minimum thickness.

darter6, that makes sense to be protected from it i guess i should have thought of that.

From NHRA rule book: Batteries may not be located in the driver or pass. compartment. Rear firewall of .024-inch steel or .032-inch aluminum (including package tray) required when battery is relocated to the trunk. In lieu of rear firewall, battery may be located in a sealed .024 inch steel, .032 inch aluminum or NHRA ACCEPTED POLY BOX. If sealed box is used in lieu of rear firewall, box may not be used to secure battery and must be vented to outside of body. Relocated batteries must be fastened to frame or frame structure with minimum of (2) 3/8 INCH diameter bolt hold down method described in previous sentence. (J-hooks prohibited or must have open end welded shut.) Metal battery holdown straps mandatory. Strapping tape prohibited. A maximum of (2) automobile batteries or 150 lbs. combined maximum weight is permitted.Maximums may vary according to class requirements Hope this helps. Go get 'em!:steering:
