Bench Seat Foam - Am I missing something?

I've noticed that almost all the suppliers have replacement foam for buckets but don't see much out there for the bench in my RR? Where's the best place to go to get new foam or because it's a bench is this something a good upholsterer can kind of "fill in".... Jury is still out on whether the sag on my side of the bench is spring or foam but trying to get ahead with my budget

I had this same problem years ago the bench was not to bad but could use a bit more support.
What I did was remove the bench from the car and found a local upholsterer who sold different thickness of foam padding. I bought some 1 1/2 enough to cover the length and width then stuffed it between the old seat padding and the springs.
It got rid of the saggy look and easier on the butt.
It was a cheap fix that worked perfect.

I dont know but if you find out post what you did because I'm looking at the same situation. I did see something on the legendary site, it was bulk padding so you just bought what you needed.

I know, as guys, we subconsciously block out most stores like that, but they have all sorts of foam and foam substitutes.

Any upholstery shop can easily supply you with a piece of foam rubber in any thickness you desire. Bench seats do not have formed foam like buckets do. Just a 6 foot long piece of foam 2 feet wide in the thickness of your original. While you are at the upholstery shop buy enough burlap to replace what you now have. Burlap is cheap and I always have it in stock. Foam can get a bit pricey depending on where you get it from. If when you look under your seat and the burlap looks like shredded wheat and the springs look good then that would indicate why it may not feel supportive. After the burlap has deteriorated the springs saw their way through the foam making it weak and needing replaced. I got a roll of 2" memory foam at Walmart and it worked great for my rear bench.

I've been toying with the idea of building a fitted foam base for a bench seat for a while now. Mine are in such good nick that I probably wont, or at lease for a while.

But if you get a few different grades of foam you could build a base in such a way that it has bucket like divots. just the right combination of foam densities and resilience and bam. Would be pretty cool; Stock looks, modern support.

Maybe once its on road I'll consider having a play...

I had local upholstery shop do mine, there are two layers of foam, and they also added jute between the foam and the springs to keep the springs from tearing into the foam. Here is what they look like.

I did my rear seat back and bottom and my bucket seat bottoms with 2" foam and man the sag is gone and they look great.
