I finally had the opportunity to try this method that I found here on the forum probably a year ago. Replacing the lower control arm bushings without damaging anything. After driving out the pin and removing the balance of the bushing I welded a couple washers inside the sleeve and pressed out the sleeve with an appropriate sized deep socket. It was easy.

Good stuff, thanks

Welding in a washer is a very good method to remove that bushing.
Another method to consider, if you don't have a welder, or access to one, is to get yourself a
1 3/8 inch tap, and screw it into the bushing.
Then press them out together.
Taps that size can be rather expensive, but i have purchased them, for as little as $12.50 on ebay,
by looking around, and waiting to purchase one that cheap.
The very early Chrysler service maintenance manuals showed you how to use the tap method.

Ive done the welded washer trick a few times.
Works perfectly.

BUT one needs a welder to do it. and not everyone has one
