The vehicle I'm working is an original 1970 B-body car, with 440-4 HP engine and dual snorkel air cleaner.
Often, when the car I'm working is missing original parts, and I need to figure out what "factory original" looks like, I look to a another example vehicle and go to the parts book. In this case, I don't have a "correct" example to refer to. I've replaced the aftermarket valve covers, carburetor, air cleaner and PCV systems with correct OEM-like items. I'm trying to locate the hoses connecting with the three nipple Crankcase Breather using the parts book. Part numbers (when searching aftermarket products) often direct me to the correct part. In some cases, any tubing with the correct dimensions can be used.
Using the parts book, it's a little challenging figuring out what is what.
What I think I know so far, is the types of hoses connecting with the 3-nipple crankcase breather, #3462 096 are:
#1 a 5/8 braided (possibly molded) hose connecting the [Crankcase Breather] Air Cleaner to the [Dual Snorkel] Air Cleaner. I'm guessing it's under 12-inches in length. This looks like #2951 378.
#2 a 3/16? line connecting the [Crankcase Breather] Air Cleaner to the hard line running back to the fuel vapor separator near the fuel tank about 12-inches in length. This looks like #1739 230.
#3 a 3/8 (11/32) line connecting the [Crankcase Breather] Air Cleaner to the Carter AVS fuel bowl vent tube about 12-inches in length. Guessing #883 031, but this part number may be the hose connecting the PCV valve to the (front of the AVS) carburetor.
I'm really unclear on the dimensions of the #2 hose, because 3/8 looks too large, and the typical 3/16 vacuum line seems too small. I'm guessing on the part numbers, too. But I enjoy a mystery and deciphering the parts book is often fun to me.
Can anyone help me figure out what (maybe where) to buy to hook things up and still look pretty OEM? Any correction on part numbers is a welcome addition.
