My dipstick tube has broken off in the engine block. Obviously I will need to remove the remains of the old tube and install a new tube. What I am wondering is if it is normal for the tube to be this close (in contact with) the engine mount rubber? Do I have the wrong mount? Has anyone else seen this? I would hate to go through the work to install a new tube and have it break again. The car is a 1966 Dodge Coronet. The engine is a 383. Thank you.

It should not be that close, have you removed or disconnected the engine from the mounts lately?

It appears to me that it has the wrong isolater mount (to wide in width) or it
has the wrong engine steel bracket? Maybe or maybe not? The isolater (rubber)
should not be sticking that close to the dipstick tube, IMO.

The rubber biscuit is old and squished out. U need a new rubber mount. A new mount will be taller and narrower. Send me a p/m if u would like some factory ones. Kim

Looks like the bracket is on the wrong side of the mounting boss from the engine?
Looks like a mount bolt is missing altogether, mount itself is on the correct side of the block boss.

I’ve never seen that. What did it come from, where does the other end go to?
Thanks

Some C-bodies had this safety cable setup, The long K-frame bolt goes through the other end.

Great information guys. Much appreciated. I was wondering about the rubber being squashed too. I looked at the rubber mount on the right side and noticed it definitely looks taller and not as wide. I think I will order a new rubber mount and search out a non-chromed tube. The broken tube was not chromed but it was missing the bolt attachment flag. The previous owner had wired the tube in place a smeared some goop around the broken tube. (of course that never works)
