Does anyone have any experience with home based Cadmium plating kits? While searching the net I ran across this company that offers a home based plating kit that looks like Cadmium. This is a zinc based coating process that is supposed to look like Cad plating. I also ran across some other forums that talk about this kit and most of the reviews are positive.

I would like to have my brake booster plated along with the wiper motor case and maybe a few other parts. Or if anyone knows of a plating source that offers Cadmium or "look alike" Cad plating let me know.

I dont have experience with the home kits, though i did work one of the larger plating shops on the east coast back in college. Dont think you'll find home kits with real cadmium, that stuff is extremely poisonous.

If you dig into the plating forums you'll notice the guys that do it at home have a fair amount experimentation invested in plating different items. Though a battery charger will most likely work in some situations, I think having a better power supply (read: adj. and more $$) will ultimately determine your success.

Somewhat related, but I've bought a LOT of stuff from Caswell over the years (though not any of their various home plating kits). The customer service is outstanding, the products are fresh and competitively priced, and I'd never hesitate to recommend dealing with them.
