The deck will clean right up, especially since most Mopar blocks SUCK with too tall a deck height and they are never in square. I don't see any lifter bores.
yes probably be saved...that one lifter bore does not look good at all...but you would save money by finding another block....where has that been sitting!!
I don't know. I ALWAYS plan on decking any MoPar block as a standard practice and I recommend anyone do it to a block that's not been decked. They should be checked at the very least......SO, decking to ME is par for the course, so that money was gonna get spent regardless. Is that number one exhaust lifter the worst? If so, have it bored and bushed. Of course, you'll need to drill out the bushing for lifter oil. I don't see a huge expense, BUT if you have another block real handy........
But your question was can it be saved? The answer is a DEFINITE YES.
Hmmmm, a marine block huh? That was me making a joke about anything rusted or corroded beyond belief. If it wasn't for that one lifter bore I'd say cut the deck and run it. Unless that is a very special block, I'd just get another one because bushing that one lifter bore can't be cheap. The other thing I'm wondering about is the positioning accuracy of bushing that one lifter bore relative to the others. My thought would be to do them all once the block is set up and call it a solid lifter only motor. I just remembered that you have to leave one bore unbushed, or drill a hole or something, because it will interfere with oil flow to the mains. I also don't recall if that is SB or BB. I saw that somewhere a long time ago.
