Carb adjustment?

I ordered the PCV valve and will try that first and then go from there I guess.

Right, or wrong, that's how I was taught, first starting to fool with 'em. Usually not much off, I've always looked at a four-barrel, like two two-barrels, side-by-side. Also depending on what manifold, how the mixture is fed...so, once mixture is set, I've always 'balanced' them, so one side is not leaner than the other...even.

Actually, I think Miller is right. Your idle mixture screws won't do diddly-squat if your throttle blades are into the transfer slot. To revise my suggestion:
1. Adjust idle screw to make sure throttle blades are below the transfer slot
2. Set idle mixture & re-adjust idle speed screw if necessary.
3. THEN, if it's still running pig-rich & blowing black smoke when you floor it...THEN start looking at main jets/metering rods.

I agree with Oldbee too..... I've found that my idle mixture screws (side-to-side) are a little different. Maybe because I always run dual planes??? They're really close side-to-side, but maybe a 1/2-turn different.

Appreciate that, PurpleBeeper. Didn't mean to step on anyone's toes. Just adding a couple things in the mix. You explained perfectly how to go about it! Just too many little details that should be known, while messing with these things.

Like I know what the heck I'm talking about.:steering:

Took it back in and one of their mechanics decided to try changing out the PVC valve. Problem solved - oil useage dropped and no more film on the rear bumpers.

AR67GTX has a good idea here too....glad you saw it olddog

PurpleBeeper, Im reading everything and listening to everyones advise on here who have been good enough to offer it. You may notice I have a couple threads on the go :)
