The current version or the Carter M4862 is the big block hi performance pump (Street/Strip).

What I have is one that is marked 4862S on the flange with the date code K0 on the other flange. This one has the markings of a late 60s to early 70s housing. No hump. Casting seam aligns with screw hole.

So what would this be for? Doesn't the S at the end of the list number represent OEM? Would this be a period over the counter dealer item or one that came on the car from the factory? Can't find any info on net other than the new production stuff being sold, which has different casting of the main body. Thanks for any info.

Sounds like an original 440/426 rebuild-able mechanical pump. With the K0 date code is 1970. As far as the "s" goes I think all oem and NOS(over mopar parts counter and parts stores) had that. If you want I have an NOS 440 pump I can check but not the same pn as yours.
