I've been exploring methods to renovate the interior and trunk body (interior) to clean it up and then apply some type of coating that provides preservation, water protection and maybe some sound deadening while I'm at it. The carpet has gotten pretty soaked when driving in rain so assume there are seams that need sealing or coating. I've looked at Flex-Seal and Ames Iron Coat; but reviews on the first are mixed for common applications. I'm sure there are many more products...looking for anyone who may have done this type of work for any suggestions, products they used, liked, etc. Thanks.

I will be watching this thread too. I was thinking of using POR-15 followed by dynamat (already have both products), but there are differing opinions on the POR-15 so maybe someone here has some experience with it? And I plan on using regular auto seam sealer for all the stuff I removed for a rear passenger floor pan replacement.

Great ?s. I plan on doing the same. I have the interior all tore out of my Bee and thought that a similar process will help keep the dust out of the cockpit.

I was just going to clean all the metal really good then use some rubberized undercoating from 3M. It worked really good on the bottom of car. Why wouldn't it work on the inside. I am open to better ideas. Maybe some brush on product to avoid overspray?

First source of the leak must be eliminated. The cowl or the wipers are most common unless you have water coming up from holes in the floor.
I just used rustolium,my floors are far from perfect with some hack patches done through the years.

I haven't used POR15 but have talked to people who liked it for under carriage and wheel well coating. I guess it's messy stuff and pricy. I thought maybe using this stuff inside of the car would be more than necessary. Another friend used Lizard Skin but his car was totally stripped out no dash, windows, etc. making spraying an option. My car is a CA convertible fortunately very little rust and still has white paint (white car) except some worn off areas and also blistered off spots thanks to top fluid leaking under back seat and floor to clean off for prep. Thought I would use the scour pads I bought to attach to drill and rough up the surface before putting down any coating and alcohol wipe down. That Ames Iron Coat I mentioned in my earlier post looks appealing it's white (for my white car)and around $35 a gallon. It's advertised for metal roofing and RV roofs so figure might be good for this sort of project...

I tried the Flex Seal around the vent on top of my inclosed car trailer. I liked how it went on. Then I used a aluminum roofing paint over it and it didn't like that!
