ok how do i prep the cowl for paint. i have a 64 440 any clues would be great. thank you
 
yep complete paint, just wondering how to get under the grill to clean it up for paint. i don't see ant type of a panel extra to let you get into that area. i'll try to get pics just not good at getting them on here

To get inside of the cowl you will have to pull the hood, hinges, fenders, windshield and then drill out all the spot welds around the cowl. Huge project!
Or if the cowl is solid: I recommend Eastwood Internal Frame coating. Make an extended nozzle tube and work thru the grill openings to spray the insides to your satisfaction. This stuff will creep into lap joints pretty well.
Get some spray can paint of your chosen finish color or black to cover the visible areas.
