Look at this old workhorse. And look at that botie lurking in the background

I had 2400lb in the back of my old v6 f150 once..
I wonder what the hell THAT weighs!?!?

Been almost a decade since I saw that pic the first time.

Notice the rear bumper is supported by the hill in back of the truck.

I wonder if the bed side sheet metal was supported from the inside, or maybe a platform even with the sides.

I just don't see that relatively thin sheet metal supporting that, especially after buckling at the top.

Too bad that Ram body looks like it was "sort of" decent shape
before they drove the lil' bulldozer on-top of the bed sides
ain't going anywhere or not far with 15,000+ #'s on the bedsides
& the suspension collapsed

tough truck

Surely would crush the bed of the truck if it was put on the bed sides unsupported. Looks like a Cummins powered truck too, but even that "little" dozer is probably very heavy. At LEAST 15,000 lbs.

What I want to know is why?

I routinely put 2000 lbs in the bed of my '01 2500 (used to heat the house with a pellet stove, would by a pallet at a time).

Drops the rear end about 3/4".

Lol. Looked like that was that Dodge pickups last hurrah before it went to the crusher!

My brother and I were cleaning up and had a large pile of auto and industrial batteries to sell for scrap we had accumulated over the years. We loaded our 97 3500 diesel up level with the sides of the box, drove 60 miles up to the scrap yard. When we weighed it it out we had 5500 lbs of freaking batteries in the back of the pickup. It had 300,000 miles by that point. I think it broke a spring on the trip…Lol.

The early 5.9 cummins dodge trucks, vehicle of choice for the apocalypse. LOL
