Domestic beer? Guess not!

Was at a local watering hole last night. They had a special posted, half off domestic draft pints. Below that was a list of draft beers including my favorite brew of all time, Great Lakes Dortmunder, made right here in Cleveland, Ohio. I asked for the Dortmunder half price draft. The server said the draft special was for domestic beer - Bud, Miller, Coors, etc. and not Great Lakes, Sam Adams, etc. WTF???? Stupid me for thinking a domestic beer was a beer made in this country and not imported from someplace else! :angryfire:

shouldve asked them what the word domestic meant. I would love to know... Haha

I hear ya, and agree, but the line they are drawing is called "specialty beers", or "micro-brew". Is it b.s.? Yes. But I found that arguing with a bartender has NEVER worked out well for me.

No. What they meant was "domesticated" beer. You know, subservient, docile, tame. No free will, instinct, danger.... IMO.

Coors, miller, Bud...none are domesric any more.

Molson/Coors (Canada)

SAB/Miller (South Africa?)

Inbev (Europe)

Hope I got those right.

Look it up.

wasn't Budweiser sold to the Germans ??

It's strange how the beer market has kind of flipped in the past decade or two. Used to be that the specialty beers with the weird names were mostly made offshore and the regular domestic brands were pretty much U. S. owned. Now there are tons of little specialty brews in almost every town that are locally owned and many of the biggies are foreign owned. That reminds me, I'm thirsty.:VB toast:

Now that I think about it, there are not many domestic beers that I even like anymore.

120224_DRINK_frostedBeerMug.jpg all this talk about beer has my thirst going :blob1:

I reckon I gotta show yall sissies what real beer looks like. In the immortal words of a wise old friend,

"If you can see through your beer, there's somethin wrong with it."

If there was a list and yours was listed, I would have thrown it right back in his face and pointed to the sign and say start pouring! If he continued with his lies, I would want to talk to management about it. Sounds like you didn't want to play hardball here, jmho.

Funny. The cat food and gun are both for the cats. The food for a treet and the gun to keep um in line. Don't worry, it's a soft pellet gun. lol
