DrDiff 8.75 gears?

Thinking of building another third member with 3.55 gears. The price of his gears are $100 less than anyone else. Has anyone used his gears? Most heard good things about him but don't remember reading about gears.

I have used a gear set from him, and will again. If I remember correctly, he sells a few different brands. Go with his recommendation. He is a great guy with some awesome tech support. Even had me send him pics to give advice on the gear lash pattern.

I have with good results, he is great to deal with.

Just installed one of his sure grip units and some 3.55 gears(motive gear) .... a few hundred miles on it and no noise ....

I'm just finishing up a 3.73 Motive from him in a 489 case. This is my 1st crack at this stuff and appears to be "so far so good"!

Didn't ask for picture of a pattern? Gear price was so cheap I wondered about quality. Think the cheap gears Hoosier, going back to D/D site to check and look to see other mfg's. 2guy's used motive gears.

Motive doesn't make 3.55's. If you go to 3.73's or 3.91's you have a choice.

Edit: 742 housing Yukon $300 or Dr. Diff (Hoosier) $185. No one else lists 3.55's.

You sure about that one ? My 3.55 sure did come in a motive box ....
For a 742 housing? Dr. Diff does list 3.55's motive gears for 742, when to summit 3.73 and 3.91's. Haven't called D/D to ask, call when I ready to buy. Where did you get 3.55's for 742?

Just found that Strange before I came back to FBBO site and saw your post. Are you saying 742 gears will go in a 489 if you use the 489 rear pinion bearing and use pinion shims to set bearing preload? I'm not well versed in 8.75's to know that. Thanks, I'm interested in your answer.

Evidently it can happen. If you go through my post in Abodies you'll see pictures of exactly what came out this 489. They used a crush sleeve behind the outer on the pinion that came out. No reason I can think of hard shims wouldn't work. I listed the inner bearing and race in a post. Outer bearing and races are same for both cases.

Here's what worked for the inner on the 742 pinion in the 489 case. The bearing does hang out of the small end of the race as assembled......

I've never heard of Hoosier but I know some ratios for the 741 & 742 case were harder to come by some years ago. Maybe he found someone to supply him with what he wanted to carry? I would not question the quality of his products. That says a lot because I usually do suggest caution but I have been a repeat customer for many years now and he's never let me down. I buy all my axle parts from him.
