I read about 350 Chargers. They started bondoing the side markers towards the end, so I suspect a few were 70’s.

They used to drive around and leave notes on windshields. From what I gathered.
Wayne Wooten got them released from Warner Brothers. It was his job to find new owners for the good ones that were left.

It was a long time ago when they weren’t worth much. And I’d argue that all the Chargers used in film and TV has only added to their legacy.

The sources that I have read quote approximately 300 Chargers, 600 Plymouth police cars and numerous background cars. No 1970 models were used according to articles I read.

I know this will offend some but I have to be truly truthful. I love the 1968 to 1974 Chargers. But in the years of the Dukes, I was out chasing tail. When I did see the show I thought it was the stu, stu, stupidest thing I'd ever seen. That was me doing my Roscoe P. Coltrane imitation. Actually, in real life, I can imitate his voice pretty well. I know it depends on your age. I thought The Man From U.N.C.L.E. was great and I see it now and it's so ridiculous. I guess it's whatever was on your lunchbox.

I have a crap ton of models of General Lee in different scales but that's because I knew they would be discontinued by the PC police. I even have a new full size roof decal.

The 1969 Charger model at Walmart is called the Country Charger. It has a bunch of block number decals and decals of General Grant and General Washington and some other General but no General Lee.

A friend I met at Carlisle 2020, who owns a General Lee, told me it was his understanding that some of the cars were only painted on the side that was being filmed. Often the otherside was smashed or messed up in some other way. Saved the studio some $$$$.

I lived in So. Cal near the Burbank studios during the time they filmed dukes. They did buy up every charger they could. There was a nice one on the roof of Burbank studios for years. Looked nice at 4 stories up anyway. My wife worked at Universal studios. I could get down to lower lot every now and then and see the cars used in TV series and movies. Most were really junk but would look good on TV.

There's a DOH Charger roaming around in my area. I loved that show. I actually have met and got autographs from most of the cast over the years. I met Roscoe, Enos, Daisey, Bo and Luke and went to Cooter's Place back in October. I actually shared the same birthday as Roscoe and I would email him a Happy Birthday every year until his death.

From what i have heard one of the big tv outfits CBS NBC ect bought the rights to the show just to make sure it never airs again. Has anyone heard of this ?
