Engine mount carnage

Everyone has an opinion I guess, solid on driver's side on a true street car with full exhaust and little nvh issue caused a lot of vibration for me.
Solids on my racecar, couldn't tell a thing.

If a guy wants some rubber in their mounts, The Mancini bolt through design is a safer bet than the Schumachers. I had one of those fail.....

I was talking about the torque strap.

I found some nos rubber mounts and used the torque strap for security. Five years on the mounts and they still look good.

I think it was GM that were using the interlocking motor mounts back in the day. They would disintegrate but they wouldn't allow the engine to raise up.

You don't want a solid mount on the driver's side. It'll loosen the fillings in your teeth and spin nuts off random bolts. Years ago, I had one in my '67 Coronet wagon that was equipped with 440, 4-speed and 3.55 gears. I discovered those floating mounts that had the internal steel plates that locked up in high torque situations. I never had a broken mount again.

Many people I know including myself ran them like this for years with ZERO bolts loose and ZERO vibrations. The passenger side being rubber absorbs any harmonics. These were street cars running Mid 10's to mid 9's in the quarter. I am guessing there was other issues that loosened your teeth fillings as your experience it's not the normal one...

I've run steel mounts, BOTH sides, in the Bee since 1979. If it adds any vibration I'm toooo dumb to notice !
You should ask a dummy (me) who decided to replace his home-made solid mount with rubber mounts, and subsequently had his radiator impaled when the mount broke shortly thereafter. My first thought after replacing my solid-mount " Hmm, not really any difference". My first thought after the radiator was impaled " you idiot, why didn't you leave the solid mount in !!"

I believe they're making these again. Used to be Schumacher

Mancini is carrying the torque straps. They went up in price from before. With that, I used "Mighty Mounts" engine mounts which is solid on drivers side and rubber on passenger. No problems after a few years, knock on wood.

Our dirt late models use solid front mounts and a motor plate on the rear of the block and the two speed trans hangs off the bellhousing.
