Yeah, I tore into my 66 Belvedere because the front end was finally too far gone to keep driving it so I decided to tear down the whole car. The AC was still working too. I should have just threw in some bushings and ball joints and kept driving it. Once it was all apart, my dad passed away then my wife's dad and then her mom and my step mom. Altogether, I lost 10 relatives in a 3 year span and the car just kept being put on the back burner....and it's still there 15 years later.

Every time you go to fix something on an old classic you'll find at least five other things that need fixed. Just the nature of the beast. If you realize that going in, it won't bother you too much.

MS is right. most of the time you either break or damage 2-3 other things when trying to repair the orig problem. ya gotta expect that. at our age, everything is brittle, soft or worn out. and if it's not fun, or at least tolerable, then ya shouldn't have the car. not saying YOU shouldn't have the car, just saying $h1t happens...

Yup, more times than I care to mention. Not only on cars, but on home & work projects. I'm a glutton for punnishment.

Wiring is not that big a deal, stick with it. Let me know when you really take something apart.

I think that every time I get into a project. What on earth was I thinking? 13 years on my silver RT, never any time to work on it...

Its seems never ending IMHO. I cant start a car/home/work/family project without being up to my eyeballs in no time at all! It'll make you nuts thats for sure!

I came up with a theory a long time ago, which was based on real life experience. You never fix a problem but rather move it to another spot.

You missed the point, I've done over 15 cars to this point some full restos some just minor work. If I didn't love it your right I wouldn't do it but sometimes just sometimes.....

Amen to that brother

Best thing to remember is, might as well fix it all while you have it apart because it was a pitta to do the first time why punish yourself a second? Wiring is not as bad as it may seem, either get a brand new harness or go to the hardware store and buy the same gauge and color wire and run it all new. Even if you have to do one at a time in the end everything will work and will last another 45 years.
