Was wondering if anyone could tell me the difference between an A/C and Non A/C fan clutch?

Non A/C clutches were viscous only and A/C clutches were viscous with a thermal control spring

so what did the spring do? was it affected by heat?

Yes it would expand and contract with temp and in turn it is anchored on the outer end and the center end is attached to a shaft that it turned that’s attached to a valve inside letting the fluid flow to control the drag on the clutch.

Thanks for the info, Now u can go back and work on the Mopar. I am looking for parts.

The same reason that modern cars with electric fans that turn on as soon as the a/c is turned on. You need more airflow through the condenser at lower speeds by way of the fan. At speeds above 40 mph there is more air flowing through the radiator/condenser than a fan blade can move, therefore the fan no longer matters.
