I'm copying this from the current issue of Mopar Action Magazine.

This from the editor's page.

Reach out to Tom

"Tom Hoover, "Father of the Hemi" is 83 years old and has a serious blood disorder. He's been in and out of the hospital many times in the past few months. It would be nice as a Mopar community to lift his spirits by sending him a get well card or a note of thanks or a short letter expressing your appreciation for what he has done for us.
His address is;

Tom Hoover
6022 Tolman Circle
Roanoke VA, 24012

C'mon folks, send Tom a note, let him know how much we appreciate what he did.

Wow, sorry to hear that and thanks for posting it.

Looks like Tom's condition has been going on since March. Here's the note written by Herb McCandless Sr.

thanks for posting Satman. it was odd, yesterday after running the initial break in for the trans and rear-end i shut off the car, grabbed a beer and sat in shop staring at the car, with the headers "popping" during cool down i thought; "how must it have felt in '63/'64 for all the engineers, techs (the ramcharger guys) to hear and see basically the same thing, and they built it". it literally sent a chill through me.

Gonna get at shot of the car today, print it off, write a note of thanks and get it in the mail first thing in the morning!!

I was thinking of Tom today when I was watching the NHRA race. It's just an amazing thing to see how what he and the other Chrysler engineers started - the 426 Hemi - has evolved into these incredibly powerful, violent bombs on nitro pushing an estimated 10,000 hp. All the best to Tom.
