Hi! Has anyone here installed a Gear Vendors in a Plymouth B-body, I have just bought a GV and must order a driveshaft I need the measurement for a 1968 GTX with 727 GV and 8 3/4 rearend, "measure between the centre of the overdrive yoke and the centre of the axle yoke" will not help me because it will take 8 weeks until its in Sweden and I have to order the driveshaft right now so I get both at the same time approximately, all of them came original with 51.5" driveshaft so I dont see a problem why it shouldnt fit my car all 727 GV are also same.
Thanks Sven

What is the measurement from seal of the GV to center of the end yoke on the diff.
Or take the slip yoke on the GV, bottom it out and pull it out 7/8" and measure center of yoke to center of yoke...

Then you know what the length of the shaft is....

Problem is you have the slip yoke and it NEEDS to be with the shaft when being built, and apart of it during balancing...

I am a dealer for GV and i have done 2 A bodies and 2 B bodies, lots of trucks a couple gm's and a ford, though technically one of the B bodies is classified a C body...
Unless someone else has the same set up, you are better off measuring it like i said...

Ok I just have to wait until the GV shows up in Sweden, maybe it will be finished before the season ends in august, thanks.

Gear Vendors should be able to give you the length of their unit and tell you how much to cut your driveshaft.

I will give that info when Im finished, all GTX with 8 3/4 has 51.5" driveshaft everybody agree with me:headbang: all GV for 727 has same length all agree with me, I dont know why everybody has to mount and measure if all variable are the same, I dont know if you mount GV at 10 GTX does everybody get a different measurement????

Because people make mistakes and then you get to do it again..
Trust me i do this all the time... just last week kid swapping a t350 for a t-400 says he needs .5" off the shaft...
turns out he need .820 off....
Had he waited till he put the trans in..... he would have paid once and i wouldn't have had to do it twice...

Either way, the slip yoke is with the unit, and you can not just use any slip yoke with the gv, and if you do, you better know how to machine it so it doesn't F nothing up.
You're gonna have to send that to the shop doing the shaft...

You have no local driveline shops in sweden ? I know i get some calls from england for limos, but i tell them what parts and what to do and they have someone there do it...

Find a big truck shop there, they have to have a shop making shafts for them

Even so, say you sent the yoke here and i got it, what would it be a few days, then 20 minutes to shorten/balance and send back...

I can have it build in Sweden no problem, for same money I get 3 in USA, I ship all heavy and bulky stuff in container from Miami, compare shipping prices and you understand why, must the builder have the slipyoke so he can do the balancing? If so I have to ship that back first.

Yes, the slip yoke is part of the shaft....

You don't need a new shaft technically....

You need the slip yoke with the GV (you already have), you need a weld yoke for the 1350 series the slip yoke is with the GV... now i don't know which shaft you have, do you have the swedge with the 3.5" center or 3.25" center.

Take a pic and send it or post it, then you can have the weld yoke sent now and bring it to your local driveline or truck shop, and shorten that shaft and install the different series weld yoke.
